EU cannot be proud about the Data Retention Directive
Viviane Reding delivered on 28th January a speech titled "A Data Protection Compact for Europe". Main messages of the speech and also the full speech itself is available here. One of the issues approached was the data retention directive and Reding among other things said: "The EU itself should also look carefully at home of its laws. Neither the Commission, the Council, nor the European Parliament can be proud of the Data Retention Directive."
